Playwrighting
Join DOTS Playwriting and Dramaturg Champion, Bryant Turnage to learn the fundamentals of playwriting or revise work you have already started. Learn the basics of what makes a “Well-Made-Play” and using a variety of writing exercises and groupwork, hone that knowledge into a short play for production at the end of 12 weeks. You will also learn the most common way to format and submit a play for consideration at theaters, festivals, and contests.

Devising
Dr. Gretchen Teague, Executive Director of DOTS and Champion of Devised Work, is excited to take you on a journey through the tools of collaborative creation. Devising performances collaboratively is an alternative to the traditional playwright to director path for plays. Learn how to create original theatre performances in a variety of collaborative ways including physical theatre, music, dance, puppetry, and collaborative writing. When you join this class you will learn the building blocks of devising as well as how to give and receive feedback to improve creative ideas. In addition, we will learn how to submit a proof of concept or workshopped piece for festivals.
